Chima’s ABNT Chapter Mentorship Program*:

“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” - John C. Crosby

What is mentoring?

“Mentoring is often described as a relationship between two individuals based on a mutual desire for development toward career goals and personal growth” (Mentorship PPB, CHIMA, pg. 3).

What does this program offer?

This Mentorship program offers a one-on-one matching service for individuals who have a shared desire to learn, support & grow within the Health Information Management profession. Mentors and mentees will be matched according to needs & available applicants. Mentors can be supportive & provide knowledge from their own experience. When knowledge gaps occur, contact the ABNT Chapter Committee or your colleagues.

What is my responsibility as a mentor or mentee?

Once matched, mentors and mentees communicate with each other to discuss frequency & type of contact, expectations & the parameters of the mentor/mentee relationship. Individuals may meet in person or via various media (eg. Skype, email, phone) to suit their needs. This may be a short or long term relationship as required.
